COVID-19 Update

Published: 31 March 2020

During the Coronavirus pandemic, the Government has asked us all to do our best in limiting the spread of this virus and as such, they have issued clear guidance on social distancing and self-isolation.  In order that we can remain open and provide essential care to pets, our governing body, The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and the British Veterinary Association (BVA) has issued guidance on how we are to operate during these unprecedented times.  We remain open during these times and will be reviewing cases on an individual basis in order to ensure that we adhere to social distancing guidance as much as possible.

Emergencies and urgent cases
If you have any concerns about your pet, please call us on 01843 606867.  As we are aiming to reduce face-to-face contact as much as possible, to adhere with current guidance, a visit will only be arranged if deemed absolutely necessary.  As an alternative we will offer video consults at a fee of £30, which will be payable by card over the phone.

If a visit is required, please note the following:
– The team will contact you when they are on their way to inform you of the protocols in place for the visit in order to ensure social distancing is maintained.
– The team will wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as deemed appropriate by the team
– Our mobile surgery will be deployed on visits as we will be carrying out consults in there instead of in your home.
– Payments will either need to be made via bank transfer or over the phone by card.  At present we would not be able to accept any other method of payment.

End-of-life care
We appreciate that there is no easy time to make these decisions and the current situation with social distancing makes this even harder.  However, please be assured that although we have to take certain steps that differ from our normal practice, we are still able to help and will do our best to make their final journey as peaceful as possible.
If you need to discuss this service with us, please call us on 01843 606867.

Routine procedures
We are not yet back to business as normal as we still have to ensure the safety of our staff, clients and the general public during this time. However, we are starting to be able to provide some of these services, i.e. feline neutering and vaccinations on a case by case basis. If you have any questions about our services or are looking at the need to make a booking, please do not hesitate to contact us.

If your pet’s annual vaccination has just become due, please note that we may request the booster to be delayed as there is a 3 month grace period available.

Deliveries of medication
We will continue to deliver medication and food required, but please note that due to disruption in our supply chain, there may be delays in completing these deliveries.  Therefore, please ensure that you contact us with enough notice if you are requiring repeat prescriptions.  Payments need to be made via bank or over the phone prior to delivery.

We ask that you bear with us during this difficult time and that you respect our team’s decisions as they are bound by the guidance given from our professional body and the government.  Please note that we will not tolerate any abuse of our staff.

Remember we are all in this together and must do our best to reduce the spread of this virus.

Please keep a check on our Facebook page where we will regularly post updates as advice changes.

If you have any queries, please email us at enquiries@vet2u.direct and we will endeavour to respond within 2 working days.  If it is an EMERGENCY, we strongly recommend that you phone us on 01843 606867.
